There are Three types of orientations for Undergraduate transfer students that have completed their studies at an U.S. college or university:
1. New Student Orientation for Fall 2018
The Summer Orientation for New Fall 2018 students will be held in June and July on campus. These early orientations are designed for domestic U.S. resident students and NOT REQUIRED for F-1 international students. HOWEVER, for F-1 undergraduate students that are transferring from a community college or university and currently living in the United States, it is an OPTION for you to attend. You may register for classes during these early orientation. To register for the orientation in Summer, log-in to your online Student Center and click "Orientation Registration" link in the "New Undergraduates" box.
2. International Student Orientation
The second type of orientation is the International Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 and Wednesday, August 22, 2018. You can register for the orientation here. Please note a $35 fee will be required. Once you are registered for the orientation, you will receive detail information by email regarding the orientation check-in and how to pay the $35 orientation fee in early August. This handout (PDF, 627KB) will tell you what to expect and what to bring on August 21.
On Wednesday August 22, 2018 there will be a welcome session for all new incoming international students.
If you DID NOT attend the Summer Orientation given by SF State in June or July:
You must attend the orientation on August 21, 2018 to receive academic advising and register for classes. You can register for the orientation here.
If you have ATTENDED the Summer Orientation and registered for classes:
You do not need to attend the orientation on August 21, 2018. No need to register for the orientation. You will only need to attend the International student orientation from August 22 – 24, 2018.
3. Mandatory F-1 International Student Online Orientation
This is the thrid type of the orientation. You must complete this "Mandatory F-1 International Student Online Orientation" before August 15, 2018. The online orientation sessions can be completed at your leisure and should only take a few hours. You will receive log-in instructions and reminders in June 2018.
