Office of International Programs provide F-1 student advising , workshops, and orientations to F-1 International students to assist them in achieving their personal, professional, and academic goals.

Our website is designed to answer the most-commonly asked questions we receive from international students. Students are encouraged to seek in-person advising during our drop-in hours whenever necessary.

Emergency Travel for F-1 International Students

If you need to travel outside the United States due to a personal, family, and/or medical emergency during the university closures, please e-mail f1@sfsu.edu. Your e-mail should include your name, SF State student ID number, your departure and return date from and to the United States, and the best way to contact you.  

You can still leave the United States without an updated signature on the 2nd page of the I-20.

General office hours (for submitting request or documents pick-up): Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM

No F-1 advising on the following days:

  • April 23 and 25 from 3PM to 4PM 
  • May 2 from 3PM to 4PM
  • May 29, 2018 - June 1, 2018
