Step 1: (Required) Study Abroad Information Meetings

This is the first (and only required) step to apply for SF State Abroad.

Step 2: (Optional) Study Abroad Advising via Phone

Please do not sign up for advising until after you have attended an information meeting and have narrowed down your top 2-3 program choices. If you are still confused about how to start, you may want to attend another information meeting. 

Sign in for advising here. Currently, all advising is by phone or zoom on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm. You may note on the form when signing in if you prefer a zoom session instead of a phone call. 

Step 3: (Optional) Study Abroad Application Workshops

Do you know your first choice program and have verifed that you meet all program requirements?

SF State Exchange Programs: Meetings this week on Tuesday at 11 am and Thursday at 4 pm. Watch these videos to help you apply for an SF State Exchange Program. 

CSU IP Programs: Meetings this week on Tuesday at 11 am and Friday at 1 pm. Watch these videos to help you apply for a CSU IP Program. 

While not required, it is highly recommended and makes the application go quicker. 

Step 4: (Optional) Budget Workshop

To get started, watch the Budget Workshop. Now is the perfect time to research study abroad scholarships. RSVP here to virtually attend a Budget Workshop. 

COVID-19

To limit potential COVID-19 spreading within our community, we are serving our students remotely. Advising and workshops/meetings are only available online via zoom and phone.

Office Closed - No Advisors

Advisors are responding to emails and working remotely, except the following dates when the office is closed:

Mon., Sept. 6th - Campus closed (Labor Day)
Thurs., Nov. 25th - Campus closed (Thanksgiving)
Fri., Nov. 26th - Campus closed (Thanksgiving)

Gilman Scholarship Workshops & Deadline

Have a Pell Grant and US citizenship? Apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship! 

The application is open now to be abroad spring 2022 and fall 2022. Before writing anything, attend a Gilman Workshop.  

Deadline: Tuesday, October 5 @ 11:59 PM.
